Riverford Wicked Leeks

How does it work?

Interested in becoming a Riverford partner?

We’re looking for energetic, motivated people with a passion for good food and good business.

We need franchise owners to help bring our fields into our customers’ homes, connecting them to how their food was grown and helping them enjoy it around the dinner table. Veg boxes are about sharing the very best from our fields with as many people as possible; keeping the food seasonal, and the service local and personal.

We need people who are hard-working and well organised, with the confidence and willingness to promote and develop the business with us. A genuine enthusiasm for food and interest in how it’s produced is vital. You should be independent and self-motivated, but also able to appreciate the benefits and compromises that come with being part of a larger organisation.

Why partner with Riverford?

Whether you’ve always wanted to run your own business, need a change of career, or even want to relocate, we think that our partnering opportunities tick all the right (veg!) boxes.

Enjoy the challenge of growing your own business with first-class business support and training from our experienced team. You’ll be looking after a base of loyal customers, and spreading the word to new ones.

A Riverford franchise provides the opportunity to become a valued and trusted member of your community, together with excellent earning potential. Joining us could be as good for you as it is for your customers.

How does it work?

The Riverford business model is based on franchising. This mitigates the risk of setting up on your own, because you get plenty of support from head office. Due to the added security and minimal business risk, many banks favour it too.

Your daily orders will be processed centrally at the farm then picked, packed and dispatched overnight in chilled vehicles to a refrigerated collection hub near you, keeping everything nice and fresh.

It’s not just fruit and veg that we supply. Our 50+ franchisees now sell an ever-expanding range of organic produce, from meat, milk and eggs to baked goods, juice and wine, as well as recipe boxes. This is great for our customers, and for our franchise owners too - you’ll have even more opportunities to grow your business and profits.

You’ll manage marketing activities, events, customers’ accounts and orders through an extranet database, linking our offices to yours at home. It’s an easy system to learn and use; all you’ll need is a broadband connection at home and an up-to-date computer.

Your customers

Most customers order weekly or fortnightly, so there’s plenty of repeat business as long as you continue to provide an excellent service. Sales generally come from regular satisfied customers who’ll pay weekly or before their delivery, so your business will be ‘cash rich’ from day one.

Naturally, you’ll want to build your business too. We’ll expect you to devote plenty of time to spreading the word about our fruit and veg, service and philosophy, securing a steady stream of new customers whilst continuing to retain and provide your regulars with an unbeatable experience.

Business skills

You don’t need experience of running a business, but a keen interest in food is a must! You will have basic business skills and thrive on building and maintaining relationships. Knowledge of sales, marketing, customer service or logistics does help, but we provide first-class business support and training.

Running your own business should be fun, so we’re looking for franchisees who we like and trust, and who share our vision for a world where good food, good farming and good business are the norm.

As a well-established business, we have strong links with the main banks. Our business model is highly regarded, and during your application process, we provide comprehensive business planning tools to help you decide if a Riverford business is for you.
