Here is some useful information about visiting The Riverford Field Kitchen; please take the time to read it especially if this is your first visit:-
Booking really is essential
We only prepare and cook the amount of food for the number of people that are coming, so you need to book your places at the table in advance (be sure to tell us of how many adults, children (3-12yrs) and infants (under 3 yrs) make up your total party and if you need any high chairs. Once booked, please keep in touch if your numbers change.
**Please note that for all parties over 6 in size we require a deposit payment of £10pp to secure your booking. Many thanks.**

How to find us
We are located on Riverford’s Wash Farm, Devon TQ11 0JU off the A384 that links Buckfastleigh with Totnes. The turn you are looking for is NOT for the Farm Shop, but instead the black industrial lorry sign marked “Riverford Organic”. Further details can be found below…
Coming from Exeter or Plymouth
(If coming from further away, use the M5, which becomes the A38)
Come off the A38 at Buckfastleigh and take the A384 for Totnes. Continue on this road and take the third exit on the left signposted 'Riverford Organics'. Then follow the instructions in bold below.
Coming from Totnes
From Totnes head towards Dartington. At the Dartington Cider Press roundabout turn right, taking the A384 for Buckfastleigh and Exeter. Once over Riverford Bridge continue for one mile and take the second right hand turn which is signposted ‘Riverford Organics’. Then follow the instructions in bold below.
Once you have taken the turning for ‘Riverford Organics’ continue for approximately half a mile, you will reach the main entrance to Riverford. Do not take the turning on the left, instead follow the signs for Riverford Field Kitchen which has its own carpark 500m up the road. Upon entering the carpark drive to the far end where spaces are reserved for Field Kitchen customers.
Nearest railway station: Totnes (5 miles)
Sat Nav - use the postcode TQ11 0JU and then follow the green signs for Riverford Field Kitchen.
Arriving at the field kitchen
Once on site, please be aware that this is a working farm and there are speed limits in place for your own safety.
Limited disabled parking is located in the Field Kitchen carpark in clearly marked bays.
Punctuality, a polite note
The nature of the Field Kitchen means that the whole dining room is served together. Please do your best to be on time, otherwise it can hold up service for others. We ask that for lunch you need to arrive between 12:30 and 12:45 (on Sundays between 12:00 and 12:15 OR 15:30 for 15:45) and for supper you need to arrive between 19:00 and 19:15. Why not arrive early and enjoy some conversation, a few drinks and perhaps a look round the herb garden and nearby fields. Thanks for your support with this.
We don’t have one. Just be yourself and wear whatever you feel comfortable in. We like muddy shoes and smiley faces!
Wet Weather Caution: The approach to the Field Kitchen can be quite uneven, wet and muddy. For safety, we recommend sensible footwear. (You can always change into your nice shoes once you are inside!)
Self-guided farm walk
You are very welcome to borrow a map, MP3 player, speakers and take a walk round the farm before lunch or supper. We can even lend you wellington boots. We recommend you allow about 1.5 hours to do the full walk, but you could always reduce the length of the walk to suit you. Sensible footwear and clothing is essential if doing a tour as the ground on a working farm will be uneven (and muddy!) and the weather can be changeable.
Guided tour - (April to October)
Guided Farm Tours can usually be booked on weekdays from April to October– but please call us about other days, just in case. Tours are lead by our gardening expert Penny Hemming. For lunch bookings the tour start time is 11:00 and for supper bookings (June-August only) the tour start time is 17:00. The guided tour is £7 per person, min group 5 people. but we will take smaller groups at a minimum cost of £35. We kindly ask that all accounts are settled before departure. We accept all major debit and credit cards (excluding American Express), cheques or cash. A service charge is not included, gratuities for the team are totally at your discretion.
And finally: what to expect – a reminder
We are sure you have already understood the Field Kitchen concept, either via our website or from the friend that recommended you, but here’s a reminder just in case. We are a unique, relaxed, family-friendly restaurant serving seasonal produce mainly from our own farms. The menu is set, changes daily and is without choice - you are in the hands of the chef. There is always a meat dish, but the vegetables are the star of the show. The dishes are served to the table to pass around and share. Tables are farmhouse style that seat 8 people and you are likely to be sitting alongside people you don’t know, but this is half the fun. If it's your first visit to a 'shared dining' restaurant be brave and enjoy it; we are sure you will love it and want to come again and again!
