Corn on the cob was always one of my favourite vegetable treats as a child. I spent some great years of my childhood living in Tanzania where maize (corn) and to a lesser extent sweet potato, are the staple carbohydrates in the diet. Despite its regularity on the dinner table however it never seemed to lose its appeal. Best of all was sneaking a few away with my friends, stripping back the protective outer leaves, and cooking them on an open fire.
