sprouts + a special event

This is a busy time of year for picking veg; and with most being harvested by hand it is a pretty labour intensive task. But the abundance of good quality produce makes it worth the effort. The run up to Christmas begins with the start of the long-awaited sprouts. The crop for the boxes is looking fantastic. I always get excited about sprouts; either I need to get out more or it’s the fact that they look so good and taste divine, whether they come loose or on the stalk. I prefer them looking dramatic on the stalk; we’ll send them to you like this wherever we can.

The visitor farm quietens down now for a few weeks before the Christmas rush in December, although we are open on Sundays through November where we are offering discounted admission (find out more on the Stockley Farm website). And make sure you have Saturday 27th November in your diary for the special Riverford Christmas event, running from 11am-5pm. We will have all sorts of activities to keep you entertained; from tractor rides, farm animals, Santa’s grotto and face painting for the little ones to seasonal cookery demos, the chance to meet your local growers and taste some of our Christmas food for the adults (we’ll have a bar and refreshments too). It isn’t open to the general public, so remember to bring a receipt or customer ID.

vegbox enthusiast wanted
If you love your vegbox and want to earn a bit of extra pocket money, we’d like to hear from you. We are looking for someone to be the face of Riverford and to spread the word at the farm, out on the street and at shows and events in the local area. You’ll need to be passionate about what we do and have plenty of energy and enthusiasm to talk about it to potential customers. We will provide a van, lots of organic produce, training and support. This is a casual position covering weekdays and weekends. To find out more go to the ‘About us’ section of the website or email jobs@riverford.co.uk.
