No need to peel their delicate, flavourful skins – just scrub gently in cold water. They should only take 10-15 mins to boil in a pan of salted water; some bay and split garlic cloves would be welcome additions to the pan. New potatoes also roast well, especially with a few sprigs of rosemary and cloves of garlic. They’ll take about 40 mins at 210°C/Gas 6.
Delivered from our farm, so wash before cooking. Keep cool and dark on a veg rack. New potatoes are best eaten as fresh as possible.
Country of origin
Grown in the United Kingdom.
The Le Maistre family have been growing in the south-east corner of Jersey since 1841. Their farm, Master Farm, consists of around 900 vergées (just over 160 hectares) growing a wide range of crops. Jersey’s unique microclimate – with the highest recorded annual sunshine hours in the British Isles, and mild winters thanks to its position in the Gulf Stream – creates ideal conditions for growing potatoes. Master Farm has steep south-facing slopes with excellent sun exposure and draining, creating better conditions still.
It’s an act of love: their fields are too steep for machinery, so the Le Maistres must plant and harvest by hand. They were the first farmers to grow genuine Jersey Royal potatoes organically.
