Print Chocolate and ginger sauce

This takes moments to make and is delicious as a dipping sauce or trickled over icecream, poached pears or a steamed sponge. Add a pinch of chilli flakes if you want a bit of kick.


  • 150ml milk
  • 30ml double cream
  • 50g plain chocolate
  • 25g butter
  • 15ml golden syrup
  • 2cm piece fresh ginger


  1. Put the milk in a pan and bring to the boil. Stir in the cream then keep warm.
  2. Melt the chocolate and mix together with the butter. Peel the ginger and grate into the chocolate mix. Mix all the ingredients together and keep warm until ready to serve.
  3. This is delicious served with a steamed sponge or ice cream.
