organic household of the year
Some of you may remember that a few months ago I announced our pursuit to find the most organic household in the region. After sifting through sack loads of entries and deliberating the merits of recycling versus car sharing we have finally come up with a winner.
As far as we are aware this is an unprecedented award - while there are plenty of prizes for organic business there is nothing out there to reward the hundreds of individuals and households that go that extra mile. And after all it is going to be the small actions of many, rather than the extravagant gestures of a few, that really contribute towards protecting the environment for future generations.
So without further ado, the winner for our inaugural Household of the Year title is the McBreen family from Milton Keynes. Known as 'The Greens' amongst their friends and neighbours and proud of their 'Good Life' existence, the McBreens make being environmentally conscious fun! The wormery, composting, vegetable patch, considerate car use, cotton nappies, and of course the chickens all helped to sway the judges decision.
I will be taking the McBreens their prize and inviting them up to the farm to learn more about what we do in the summer. In the meantime, many congratulations to them from all of us here - they prove that being responsible needn't be boring!
