Marmande tomatoes Grown by Premium Organics co-operative at Leioa, Spain

£3.25 / 480g

Marmande is a classic beefsteak variety, with fat, ribbed fruits that would look most at home in a Provençal market stall. Don’t wait for them to turn completely red; Marmande tomatoes ripen from the inside out, so will remain slightly green on the outside even at their ripest. Juicy and refreshing, with a gentle, crisp, almost melon-like flavour, they make a striking addition to salads.

How to prepare

Marmande tomatoes have very few seeds, making them ideal for salsas and salads (also a nice opportunity to show off their rich red flesh). Their delicate flavour is best paired with a sweet dressing, using sherry vinegar or mild, elegant chervil.

Delivered from our farm, so wash before cooking. Best kept out of the fridge and on a cool veg rack. Underripe tomatoes can be kept at room temperature, very ripe in the fridge - but bring to room temperature before eating for flavour.

Our tomatoes are sold as class 2. This means that they might not look cosmetically perfect, but they are grown for the very best flavour. (We have to tell you this to satisfy some EU rules).
