Quick Overview

Hardy, hearty cooking spinach. These leaves are robust, so ideal cooked into all sorts of dishes. Swirl into pasta sauce, wilt into vegetable curry – and spinach is best friends with eggs.

This spinach gratin from our Riverford Field Kitchen restaurant’s a stunning side, or whizz into a healthy green smoothie for something virtuously verdant.

Cooking

This perpetual spinach is best cooked. To prepare it, wash, cut the stalks off, blanch in a pan of boiling water for a minute, drain, refresh in a bowl of cold water, drain again and then chop finely.

Storage

Delivered from our farm, so wash before cooking. Spinach is best eaten fresh - when it's most nutritious. If you can't use it straight away, keep it in the fridge or for long term storage, freeze it while fresh.

Spinach is a native plant of Persia (modern day Iran) and was probably brought to Europe around the 12th century.

Country of origin

Grown in the United Kingdom.
