We're over the moon to have won Food and Drink Business of the Year at the Western Daily Press awards. 2017 marks 30 years of Riverford, so it's wonderful to be recognised for three decades of commitment to growing organic, flavoursome veg with sustainability at the heart of everything we do.

The British Farming Awards - Silver Award for Best Farming Partnership 2016

The British Farming Awards - Silver Award for Best Farming Partnership 2016

We're happy to say that last week the South Devon Organic Producers (SDOP) co-op won the silver award at The British Farming Awards for Best Farming Partnership. Guy set up the SDOP in 1998 to help supply the growing demand for our veg boxes. Almost 20 years later and almost all of the original farmers are still on board. Our boxes would be a little sparse without them; it's great to see all of their hard work rewarded with this achievement.

Ethical Consumer Magazine – Riverford vs Abel and Cole 2016

Ethical Consumer Magazine – Riverford vs Abel and Cole 2016

Ethical Consumer Magazine reviewed us, and fellow veg box company, Abel and Cole, to see who scored the highest ethical rating. We’re happy to say we came up tops. To give you an idea, with the best possible score at 20, the highest scoring supermarket is a 6, and we were rated 13.5, compared to Abel and Cole who came in at 11.5. Looking after farmers, staff, animals, customers and the environment has been at the heart of what we do since day one, and will continue to be.

Sawday’s Pub Awards - Local, Seasonal & Organic Produce Award 2015/16

We are really thrilled to have won this award for our London restaurant, Riverford at The Duke of Cambridge. Nearly 800 pubs were featured in this year’s guide, so winning an award is a fantastic achievement. It’s all in the name of the award; three things that sum what we’re all about. We change our menu daily to work with the produce we’re picking on the farm; you can’t get much more seasonal than that!

Guy Watson’s response to winning this award for the fifth time:
“We pride ourselves on being a fair-thinking business that makes considered decisions about how to do business with minimum impact on the environment and wider community. Our policies include supporting small-scale British farmers and producers as much as possible, and never air-freighting produce from overseas. We believe that good food should be available to everyone, and we’re delighted to have won such a prestigious award that shows you can do well in business without being unethical.”

We were delighted to be in the final for this inaugural award. The judges rated us for our mission to make naturally tasty, unadulterated and ethically produced food accessible as possible.

We believe that small-scale organic British family farms provide the best model of ethical meat, dairy and egg production, as their animal husbandry techniques provide a level of care per animal that is simply not achievable in intensive farming systems.
