greens and groans

A collective groan has gone up in recent weeks at the mountain of greenery coming in from our fields. That 90%+ of the veg has been coming from our group of growers in recent months is great for the environment and for the hard core green-eaters amongst you, but we are painfully aware of veg racks groaning under the weight of neglected cabbages and kale.

In a normal year we might be courting the favour of the less seasonally committed cooks with the occasional imported item but the mild autumn has confounded our plans, meaning we are now cutting cabbages programmed for February, cauliflowers due for Christmas and purple sprouting expected in January. We must honour our commitments to our growers, for the sake of both their livelihoods and our reputation, so the boxes will be heavy on greens through to the New Year. We
