Organic Godminster brie
Another award-winning cheese from Godminster, this traditional air-ripened brie is hand-made by Godminster’s specialist artisan cheese makers using fresh organic milk from the family’s dairy herd.
Satisfyingly rich and creamy, this organic brie is a white-rinded cheese with a pearly white centre and a thick velvety consistency. Team with a Godminster vintage organic cheddar or oak smoked cheddar, some crisp sweet celery and seeded artisan biscuits for a simple cheeseboard that is guaranteed to impress.
Soon after going organic in 1999, Godminster realised that their milk would never generate enough to sustain the farm. They had an idea to make their own cheddar, so set to work with a traditional 70 year old recipe. The resulting vintage cheddar went down a storm at local farmers’ markets in Somerset and has won a raft of awards. They have now added to their cheese range with an oak smoked cheddar and this beautiful creamy brie which, in our view, is also an outright winner. Keep in the fridge but remove an hour before serving – letting the cheese warm to room temperature brings out its flavour. Can be baked in a hot oven for 10 minutes. Not suitable for home freezing. This brie continues to ripen with age and tastes best two weeks before its best before date.
