cooking with love
Cooking from scratch takes time. Sometimes it seems futile cooking for hours and then dragging the family to the table for a stressful meal before arguing about whose turn it is to do the washing up. Why not reach for the oven chips and frozen pizza or just let them graze from the fridge at will.
Occasionally appreciation or good humoured conversation makes it all worthwhile. While quizzing our 15 year old daughter on the food she had eaten on her exchange trip to France she inadvertently paid the greatest compliment that any kitchen-bound parent could hope for; though she liked the food and commented favourably on the way all food was shared around a table, something was missing compared with our sometimes chaotic meals at home.
