Riverford Wicked Leeks

Data Security and Compliance Officer - Maternity Cover

Location: Buckfastleigh

40 hours per week

Circa £45,000 per annum

You’ll lead the specification, development, implementation and evolution of Riverford’s data and security compliance, driving culture change – from within IT, to the whole organisation, including remote sites and our 60+ franchisees. Through influence management and as a frequent project stakeholder, you will help embed a culture of security-awareness within new software and systems development, protecting our customers and business from breaches, extortion and accident. Reporting directly to the Chief Technical Officer, you will be highly autonomous, and carry the authority to ensure that data security and compliance is appropriately prioritised.

You’ll be extremely comfortable talking to both technical and non-technical colleagues, translating complex legal and technical requirements and communicating them appropriately. You’ll be passionate about software and system security, and will relish the challenge of developing a full, deep understanding of emerging legal legislation and frameworks, and helping the organisation implement practical approaches to comply with them. Further, you will own and maintain the organisation-wide policies and data lifecycles, and will put in place appropriate approaches and solutions to ensure their enforcement, including where necessary physical security mechanisms. Finally, you will work with the HR department to specify and deliver training and development objectives to make Riverford a leader in the field.

You will be comfortable suggesting and defending approaches, and care about improving our processes, approaches and technology. Most of all though, you will want to work with like-minded and highly capable people to deliver fantastic ethical products secured by YOUR systems and policies.
