Seasonal Farm Supervisor

Summer is busy for us at Riverford and we are recruiting for a Seasonal Farm Supervisor to lead a team of pickers in the manual harvest of a variety of vegetable and salad crops, e.g. lettuce or bunches of radishes.  You will be working in variable conditions and may have inexperienced members in your team.  You will lead by example motivating and coaching your team to achieve your daily target output; communicating with your manager as you go, reporting any issues or concerns.  We are a mixed farm and you will also be required to lead the same team in planting, harvest and hoeing of other crops, such as summer greens or spinach.  You will need to be well organised, be great at prioritising and planning ahead, reliable and hard working, and be confident communicating with both management and your team.

Ideally you will have previous experience of leading a team in an agricultural setting and/or experience of the manual harvesting of vegetables.  It is essential that you have a full driving license for this position.

You will work five days per week, 5.45am-2pm, May-mid August, 6.45am-3pm at other times of the year.  May-late October: Sunday-Thursday, at other times of year: Monday-Friday.

Sometimes you may be required to work overtime in order to complete a job.

This is a fixed term contract between May to late October. There is some potential for the contract to be extended but this will depend on how the season develops.

The role is 39 hours per week with some overtime. Based at Wash Farm, Buckfastleigh, Devon, TQ11 0JU.
