Production Team Leader - Recycling

Department: Production & Procurement
Closing date:

We’re looking for a motivated, organised person with strong communication skills to jointly lead a team of 28 co-owners, responsible for quality-checking and processing recycling returns. The packaging is delivered to the lines to be reused, really helping to minimise our environmental impact.

We recycle approximately 65,000 items per week, some of which we can reuse up to 10 times. The recycling role encompasses a varied range of tasks in two different locations within production. You will be responsible for clearly communicating daily workload and instilling a sense of pride in your team; keeping production lines running with the prompt delivery of quality, recycled packaging; managing productivity by setting team targets; and looking to make efficiencies or safer systems of work where possible.

You will have a duty of care to the co-owners in your team, so you will need good interpersonal skills, Health & Safety awareness, and a willingness to resolve problems quickly and safely. You’ll establish a good relationship with every person in your team, keeping them motivated, encouraging their ideas, and being an approachable point of contact. You will look after holiday requests and resourcing levels (including recruitment, Health & Safety, and attendance), as well as encouraging your team members’ personal development through regular one-to-ones and training.

Every day, you’ll need to complete your administrative tasks – including processing the daily works orders on our IT system, inputting data for your daily KPIs, team attendance management, and planning for the following week. Your team may move to help other departments as needed; it’s important that you remain responsible for them and make sure that they complete their tasks.

Excellent communication skills are essential to this role, not only for your own team, but also to work collaboratively with other departments – dealing with issues as they arise, and ultimately keeping everything running smoothly.

This is a permanent contract, 39 hours a week usually Monday to Thursday 8am to 4:30pm and Friday 7am to 3:30pm. Based at Wash Barn, Buckfastleigh, Devon, TQ11 0JU.
