Fry your mix in oil to brown, lightly dusted in flour then slow cook with onions, wine or stock and herbs before adding the pastry pie top of your choice – suet, puff or shortcrust. Or try making a traditional streamed pudding or use in a casserole (don’t forget the dumplings!) Try slow cooking the mixture at the weekend; freeze it then defrost to finish the pie or casserole at a later date.
